LOW FREQUENCY B-DOT SENSOR
PRODYN MODEL B-27(A)
DESCRIPTION
The PRODYN Model B-27(A) is a small, free-field low frequency sensor, which was designed to measure the first time derivative of B fields in a plasma environment. The sensing element, a single turn loop, is shielded from the plasma by a stainless steel shield. The shield is essentially transparent to B fields whose frequencies are below the characteristic frequency of the shield. The output of the sensor is proportional to the time rate-of-change of the magnetic field. The pertinent equation for this device is:
Vo = Aeq db
dt
where
Aeq = sensor equivalent area (m2)
B = magnetic flux density vector (Teslas)
